Sodding / Seeding

Fieldstone Landscape and Design provides sodding for both residential and commercial areas. We install grass and provide seeding for areas that need grass to grow.

Wondering whether to seed or sod? In establishing a healthy lawn, there are three decisive factors to consider; namely, selection of turfgrass, preparation of the area, and care for the new lawn. Sodding involves transplanting a mature turf taken care of by a professional to your landscape while seeding is the same process but involves the initial growth of the turf on the property. While seeding offers a greater variety of grass types to choose from, is less expensive, and initially builds a stronger root system, seeding can take longer to establish, can be only conducted in late summer to early fall, and requires significant moisture. Sodding on the other hand, can be laid down at any time during the growing season, and is ideal for erosion areas and inclines. Free of weeds, and establishing quickly, sod however offers fewer grass choices and is more expensive.

Fieldstone Landscape and Design also provides seeding for residential areas and commercial buildings, employing several different methods to optimize plant growth and also special grass seed blends depending upon the kind of project, natural terrain, and factors such as sunlight, moisture, erosion, and traffic areas.

In areas that are susceptible to erosion, Fieldstone Landscape and Design adds straw mulch and anchors the mulch into the ground to help the soil stabilize with the new seeds, resulting in quick seed germination and preventing soil erosion. We strive to fulfill the aesthetic vision of our clients while taking into consideration the natural environment and any specific requirements of the site, materials, and project.
